Will It Fit?
At Home on Center, we understand that finding the perfect piece of furniture is only part of the journey. Ensuring that it fits comfortably in your space is just as important. Follow our simple guide to make sure your new furniture will arrive and settle into your home with ease.
Step 1: Measure Your Space
Before placing your order, map out the area where your new piece will go. Using painter’s tape or newspaper, outline the dimensions of the furniture on the floor. This will help you visualize how the piece will sit in your room. You can find the exact dimensions of our pieces under the ‘Product Details’ section on each product page.
Tip: Be sure to leave enough space around your furniture for comfort and flow. For example, having room to walk around a sofa or tuck a side table next to it will help your room feel balanced and spacious.
Step 2: Measure Entry Points
Furniture needs to travel through your home to reach its destination. To avoid any delivery-day surprises, measure the doorways, hallways, staircases, and any other passageways that your furniture must go through.
Doorways: Measure the height and width of your doorways at their narrowest point. The height and depth of your furniture should be smaller than these measurements to ensure a smooth entry.
Hallways: Measure the height, width, and depth of your hallways at their tightest spots. Consider any architectural details or permanent fixtures like lights or heating units that may interfere with moving large items.
Stairwells: If your new piece needs to go up or down stairs, check the width of your stairwell and the height of any landings or turns. Make sure to account for handrails, bannisters, and lighting fixtures when planning your path.
Step 3: Plan for Delivery
On delivery day, ensure the route to your room is clear of obstacles and fragile items. Our team will handle your piece with care, but it’s essential to have a clear path for your furniture to travel through your home.
